Former Narayanganj District Chhatra Dal president Zakir Khan has been released from prison.
His leaders, activists and followers welcomed him with floral greetings.
He was released from Narayanganj District Jail on Sunday (April 13) morning.
It is learned that when Zakir Khan was released from prison at 10:30 am, his relatives and activists welcomed him at the jail gate with flowers and garlands.
At that time, he cheered happily while carrying the flags of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Palestine.
Later, he drove around the city in a car and gave a showdown.
Confirming the matter, Narayanganj District Jail Superintendent Mohammad Forkan Wahid said that Zakir Khan was released after completing his five-year sentence in a case against terrorism.
Zakir Khan’s lawyer, Advocate Rabiul Islam, said, “There were 33 cases against Zakir Khan.”
He was acquitted in 32 of these cases.
He is out on bail in the remaining 1 case.
He also said that there was an anti-terrorism case against him a long time ago.
He was released today after completing his sentence in that case.
It is worth noting that Zakir Khan was accused in a total of 33 cases, including murder.
After being on the run for a long time, he was arrested in a raid by RAB-11 on September 3, 2022, from the Bashundhara residential area of Dhaka.
Then, step by step, he was granted bail in various cases.
He was acquitted in the Sabbir Alam murder case on January 7 this year.
