Last Thursday, Railway Divisional Land Property Officer Dipankar Tanchangya said— The railway’s own property is being recovered from the hands of the encroachers by evicting the illegal structures built on the land owned by the Eastern Railway for a long time. This eviction drive will be carried out gradually from the CRB to the new railway station area.

He said that regular drives will be conducted to evict the illegal encroachers and recover the railway’s own property. However, he did not say anything about what measures will be taken to prevent the encroachment of this property again.

He also said that on December 10, the Railway Ministry sent a notice to the encroachers of railway land, setting a deadline of 7 days to vacate the place. In continuation of this, the eviction process has started. Before the eviction drive, miking and warning notices were given locally.

At that time, a large contingent of members of the Railway Protection Force (RNB), Railway Police and Chittagong Metropolitan Police assisted in the eviction drive.
