Gopalganj DC’s initiative to make the non-functional municipal water treatment plant Run-again

Water treatment plant of Gopalganj Municipality has been inactive for a long time due to sudden collapse of the power transmission line, thus disrupting the supply of pure drinking water to the residents of the municipality.
Upon learning of the matter Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Kamruzzaman took action as per the instructions and advice of the Deputy Commissioner, and it has been possible to make the water treatment plant run by Gopalganj Municipality operational again. The municipal authorities hope that it will be possible to supply water uninterruptedly from the said water treatment plant very soon.
On Friday (March 28), at 2 pm, the Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Kamruzzaman personally inspected the said water treatment plant run by Gopalganj Municipality and gave necessary instructions to the responsible officers and employees of the municipality to keep the water supply uninterrupted as per the demand of the residents.
At that time, Gopalganj Municipal Administrator and Deputy Director of Local Government Department Biswajit Kumar Pal, Executive Engineer of Gopalganj Public Health Engineering Department Md. Fayez Ahmed, Executive Engineer of Gopalganj Municipality Md. Mehedi Hasan, Superintendent (Water Supply) of the Municipality Sourav Bose, Personal Assistant to the Municipal Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Lablu and other officials and employees of the Municipality were present.
After inspecting the water treatment plant, the Deputy Commissioner spoke directly with the Gopalganj Public Health Engineer and later the Chief Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department to maintain uninterrupted water supply to the residents of Gopalganj Municipality and to install adequate water supply lines in more areas, especially in Wards 01, 02, 03 and 14, and 15 of Gopalganj Municipality and increase water supply. Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner had submitted a project worth around Tk 48 crore to the Local Government Department for the development of the water treatment plant and supply line of the Gopalganj Municipality established in 2001. It is learnt that if the said project is approved and implemented, many problems of water supply in Gopalganj will be solved. He spoke directly with the Chief Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure that the project is approved and implemented quickly in the public interest.
The municipality authorities expressed their sincere gratitude for the quick resolution of the water supply problems of Gopalganj Municipality due to the tireless efforts of the Deputy Commissioner.
Earlier, the Municipal Administrator and Deputy Director of the Local Government Department Bishwajit Kumar Pal raised the issue at the monthly meeting of the District Law and Order Committee.
