A complaint has been received about trees being cut down at Uttar Dighali Government Primary School in Louhajang Upazila of Munshiganj.

Zahid Hasan alias Anki Khan, son of Rafiq Khan, joint general secretary of Louhajang Upazila Awami League and former managing committee president of Uttar Dighali Government Primary School, has been accused of cutting down two large trees in the school’s courtyard.

Anki Khan is the leader of the Upazila Jubo League and one of the accused in the murder of Sanjay inside a shop in Ghordaur Bazar.

Many people have made various allegations against him, including drug use.

Several parents from the school, who did not wish to be named, said that if the two trees were sold at auction, they could have been sold for at least 40,000 taka, which would have generated income for the school.

Abdur Razzak, headmaster of Uttar Dighali Government Primary School, said that two trees fell and were damaged 7-8 months ago.

For this reason, the former president’s son cut down two trees.

Md. Aslam, the former ad hoc committee chairman of the school, said it was true that Anki had cut down the tree.

They deposited 3,300 taka for the price of the tree.

Asked whether trees can be cut without the permission of a forest official, he said, “I don’t know.”

Upazila Forest Officer Md. Selim said that if you want to cut down a school tree, you must inform the education officer.

When Zahid Hasan called Anki Khan’s cell phone, she did not answer.

Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Nesar Uddin said there is no opportunity to cut down government trees without permission.

If anyone has cut down a tree, an investigation will be conducted and action will be taken.
