Great Independence and National Day-2025 was celebrated in Netrokona with due dignity and with the determination to build a happy, prosperous, discrimination-free, drug-free, smart Bangladesh free from terrorism, militancy, hunger and poverty, paying humble tribute to the martyred freedom fighters.

Independence Day activities began with 31 gun salutes on Wednesday (March 26) morning. As the sun rose, leaders of government, non-government, autonomous and various political, social and cultural organizations laid wreaths at the Collectorate building and Satpai Memorial in memory of the martyred freedom fighters, and then hoisted the national flag.

A children’s rally, parade, and kabaddi game were held at the modern stadium ground in the district town at around 8 am.

Deputy Commissioner Banani Biswas was present as the chief guest and Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud was the special guest.

At 10 am, a drawing competition on the Liberation War was organized by Shishu Academy, a discussion and sports competition with the participation of women was held in the Collectorate School premises, a film screening on the Liberation War without tickets, a prayer for the peace and prosperity of the nation, the development and progress of the country, and special prayers and supplications were offered in mosques, temples, churches and pagodas.

Later, the freedom fighters were welcomed at the local public hall, and in the evening, government and private buildings were illuminated, and high-quality food was served at hospitals, prisons, children’s homes, and disabled welfare centers at night.
