OC withdrawn in clashes between BNP factions over hanging Eid greeting banners in Chittagong

OC of Khulshi police station in Chittagong city has been withdrawn following a fight between two BNP groups.

The incident took place in the Kusumbagh area of ​​Khulshi police station on Friday night around 9:00pm, police said.

Two BNP factions clashed and exchanged gunfire over hanging Eid greeting banners in Chittagong. At least four people were injured in the incident; two of them were shot.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (North) of the city police Md. Jahangir told The Daily Morning Glory, “There was a clash between two factions over hanging Eid greeting banners.” Four people were injured in the incident. Two of them were shot. Two others were stabbed.

The police officer said the injured have been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. However, he could not reveal their names. He said the situation is currently normal and police are deployed.

According to local people, the clash took place between the followers of Chhatra Dal leader Shariful Islam Tuhin and the followers of BNP leader Shah Alam.

Khulshi Police Station OC withdrawn after the incident.

A police official said that Khulshi Police Station OC Mujibur Rahman has been withdrawn after the firing between the two BNP factions in Kusumbagh.

He said that immediately after the incident, over the Wireless CMP commissioner ordered the withdrawal of Khulshi OC and sending him to the police lines.

Kotwali Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Aftab Hossain has been ordered to join as the OC of Khulshi Police Station, the official said.
