Air ticket price has been down 75%

Ticket sales have been opened for all travel agencies at the initiative of the interim government. The people of the country have benefited the most from this. Economically, the people, especially labor passengers, have benefited. Passengers are able to buy tickets at prices almost comparable to those of neighboring countries. Ticket prices have decreased by about 75%. If all airlines follow this government directive correctly, the people of the country will always get this benefit. At the same time, the price of air tickets will remain at a tolerable level.
In addition, the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) has said that the government will have to strengthen monitoring to implement the issued circular 100 percent. This information was given in a notice signed by the organization’s Secretary General Afsia Jannat Saleh.
The notice stated that the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism issued a circular on February 11 to reduce the high price of air tickets in Bangladesh in recent times and bring discipline to this sector. By issuing a circular, instructions were given that tickets can be booked with the passenger’s name, passport details and a photocopy of the passport. As a result, the airlines opened the blocks on the government’s instructions and seats became easily available in the computer reservation system.
As a result, all agencies and passengers can see the fare online and whether there are seats available on the flight or not. The matter becomes visible and everyone can book tickets according to their needs.
The artificial shortage of seats in the market has been reduced to a large extent. Due to the availability of flight seats, a competition has been created among the airlines and the ticket prices have come down.
Atab said that in December, January and February, the ticket price on these routes from Dhaka to Jeddah, Medina, Dammam was sold for about 1 lakh taka in the name of the group and it increased from about 1 lakh 70 thousand to 1 lakh 80 thousand taka in the computer system.
The ticket price of Saudi Airlines had exceeded 190k Tk. As a result of this government directive, tickets for those routes are now available for between 48k & 50k Tk. Some airlines are selling tickets for Dhaka-Dammam and Dhaka-Riyadh routes for just 35k Tk. Atab thanked the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism for issuing this government directive.
