At the rally, District Press Club General Secretary Mahbubul Kibria Chowdhury said, “The people of Netrokona will not accept the conspiracy to close Netrokona Medical College.” “This college is associated with the healthcare of the people of Netrokona.” He said that the teachers and students of the college are undoubtedly of high quality, adding, “The government is responsible for the various problems of the college.” “The responsibility for this failure is not at all the teachers or students.” District BNP joint convener Moniruzzaman Dudu said, “Access to good quality health care is the fundamental right of the common people of Netrokona.” And this is related to medical colleges in ensuring healthcare. Therefore, the people of Netrokona will not accept the closure of the Medical College. He warned that if necessary, strong protests would be held to thwart the conspiracy to close the college. The rally, led by Mazharul Amin, a doctor at Netrokona Sadar Hospital and a college teacher, was also addressed by Pritam Sohag, central organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Party, and Anik Mahbub Chowdhury, general secretary of the district Chhatra Dal. Recently, Director General of the Department of Health Education, Professor Nazmul Hossain, told the media about six medical colleges including Netrokona Medical College, “Where is the need of our country, where do we need to establish medical colleges, where do we need to establish hospitals – this needs to be done with a master plan, which has not been done in many cases.” In light of this real situation, we will try to solve the problems of every medical college.
