A significant disturbance occurred at the Vice-Chancellor’s office of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Tuesday, when a group of teachers clashed over the appointment of favored candidates and the removal of individuals affiliated with the Awami League from key administrative positions. According to witnesses, after the disturbance involving the teachers, student organization leaders entered the VC’s office and stated that they had been demanding for a long time the removal of Awami League supporters from various posts, including the registrar, planning and development, examination controller, and chief engineer’s office, and the appointment of individuals who supported the July mass uprising. On Tuesday noon, during a meeting between the administration and Acting Director of the Planning and Development Department, Dr. Nowab Ali, regarding the ongoing mega project of the university, university officials and employees began chanting, demanding his removal. Later, with the help of the proctorial body and administration, Dr. Nowab Ali was taken out of the VC’s office. Immediately after he left the administration building, then Jatiotabadi Chhatradal Dol leaders and activists led by its convener Sahed Ahmed and member secretary Masud Rumi Mithun entered the VC’s office. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, Pro-VC Prof M Yakub Ali, Treasurer Prof M Jahangir Alam, Proctor Prof M Shahinuzzaman, Assistant Proctor Prof Abdul Bari, Zia Parishad President Prof Dr Farukuzzaman and General Secretary Prof Rafiqul Islam, among others, were present on the place . Then, the leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement entered the Vice-Chancellor’s office when they heard shouting about the appointment of favored individuals. Everyone present became involved in a ruckus, and journalists were barred from entering the office. The anti-discrimination coordinator SM Sweet said , “When you talk to your authority, why someone from outside be here? We told you. That you will not discuss with anyone without the anti-discrimination student movement in this university, do not listen to anyone.” He also said said, “We against those who are trying to create instability by creating ruckus in the university. We know the location of the officials who are shouting in the administration building. During the mass upsurge at Islamic University, we, the anti-discrimination student movement, single-handedly controlled the movement. We are giving a 48-hour ultimatum, those who made a ruckus will have to be prosecuted. ” Pro-VC Prof Dr M Yakub Ali said, “I don’t remember what happened to me with Proctor Shahinuzzaman. But an assistant proctor Dr. Abdul Bari and others rushed towards us, how and why would an assistant proctor rush with me? He stood in front of me. In self-defense, I pushed him away with my hand. ” Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah said, “I am solving every problem on this campus. I have come to give something to this university, I have nothing to get or take from this university. I have no benefit in dividing this university.” He further said, “Those who made a fuss here should have a realization that I have never said anything against them, no one can prove it. I consider the Pro-Vice-Chancellor as a complement to the administration itself. I have no quarrel with anyone. I never thought it would be such an unexpected situation. ”
