160Tk Edible oil price has been fixed

If anyone sells it at any stage above the fixed price, Special task force committee will take action against them.
Starting from the importers of edible oil in Chittagong, the price has been fixed at the retail level. Business representatives have agreed with the fixed price.
A view-sharing meeting was held with the special task force committee on Tuesday at the conference room of Chittagong Circuit House to keep the price of daily necessities stable during Ramadan. City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain was present as the chief guest at the view-sharing meeting chaired by Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam.
According to the decision of the meeting, importers will sell edible oil at 153 taka, traders at 155 taka and retail at 160 taka per liter. Which will be effective from today (Tuesday) and will remain in force until April 10.
On Monday, City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain & DC Farida Khanam.went to Khatunganj, the country’s largest wholesale market, due to the supply crisis of bottled soybean oil.
After visiting and getting the truth about the ‘disappearance of edible oil’, the decision was taken at a meeting of oil producers, importers and traders.
At the meeting, the mayor said, ‘In Muslim countries outside Bangladesh, subsidies are given for reward during Ramadan. They sell products at low prices. But in Bangladesh, it is seen that the prices of products increase overnight due to some traders. Due to these unscrupulous people, the prices of daily commodities are rising ahead of Ramadan. In such a situation, the prices have been set with edible oil as a priority. If anyone sells at a higher price beyond the fixed price, the highest legal action will be taken. In addition to the district administration, the market will be monitored by the Chittagong City Municipal Corporation.
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam said, ‘According to the decision, open soybean oil can be sold at a maximum of 160 taka in retail. If someone wants, it can be sold at a lower price. However, the price cannot be higher than the fixed price.’
At the time were present Mohammad Abdus Salam (President of Chattogram Khatunganj Trade Association), Zafar Ahmed Chowdhury – Director of TK Group, Jahedul Karim Kochi- Member Secretary of Chittagong Press Club, representatives of chambers, representatives of consumer organizations, Khatunganj Trade Association, prominent businessmen, concerned officials and members of the Special Task Force.
