6 injured in road accident in Sreepur

Six people were injured when a drum truck lost control and crossed the road divider and collided with a private car in Sreepur, Gazipur. Maona Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ayub Ali confirmed the matter. The accident occurred in front of the Anwara Composite Factory on the north side of the Mauna Chowrasta flyover on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 12 noon on Monday. The injured are Al Mamun (45), a returnee from Piyapur village in Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh, his wife Brishti Akhter (35), son Al Amin Ahmed (10), daughter Mehjabin Akhter (2), younger brother Rajan Ahmed (25) and private car driver Atiqul Islam. The injured were rescued and sent to the local Alhera Hospital. Upon receiving the information, the Mauna Highway Police reached the spot and used a wrecker to recover the crashed private car. Police and locals said that around 12 noon, a black Nova was heading towards Mymensingh from Dhaka Airport. The private car reached in front of the Anwara Composite Factory on the north side of the Mauna Chowrasta flyover. At that time, a recklessly speeding drum truck coming from the eastbound lane lost control, crossed the road divider and crashed into the private car. As a result, the private car was twisted and six people were injured. In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mauna Highway Police Station Ayub Ali said that upon receiving the information, Mauna Highway Police reached the spot and used a wrecker to recover the private car that had met with the accident. We have started an investigation into the incident and action will be taken against the culprits.
