Journalist Md. Mosleh Uddin Bachchu received a commemorative plaque as a meritorious person of the Language Council

The Gazipur Language Movement Council’s 8th founding anniversary reception and presentation of the 2025 Commemorative Medal was held. On Friday (February 28), a discussion meeting on the implementation of the language policy and declaration was held at the Alhaj Ainuddin Sarkar Kamil Madrasa grounds at Chandana Crossroads in the metropolis, organized by the Language Movement Council, on the occasion of its founding anniversary. The meeting was presided over by Atiqul Islam alias Shah Sultan Atiq, President of the Language Movement Council, and hosted by Md. Sadrul Islam. The Gazipur Language Movement Council discussion meeting was attended by Gazipur Mahanagar Basan Thana BNP President Md. Tanbir Shiraj as the chief guest. The program was inaugurated by Hasina Afrin, daughter of Language Soldier Sahera Banu, special guests were Md. Julius Chowdhury, Editor NNB (News Organization) Md. Mozzamel Hossain, Son of Language Soldier Mobarak Hossain Md. Ahsan Habi, Editor and Publisher Duronto Satya Sandhane Md. Abdul Wahab Rinku, President Gazipur Central Press Club Md. Mosleh Uddin Bachchu, General Secretary Dhaka Press Club Md. Dulal Mia, Chairman Asia Chinnamoool Human Rights Implementation Foundation Md. Masud Khandaker, prominent social worker journalist Md. Masum Billah, Sumon, Organizing Secretary Central Language Movement Council. Speaking at the Gunijan Sambandhana ceremony, the speakers said that on February 21, 1952, a large number of students and some progressive political activists started a protest march in defiance of the order to declare Bangla as the mother tongue. The streets were stained with the blood of martyrs for the cause of language. The impact of this tragic incident spread intense anger throughout East Bengal. Protests against the killing of students on February 21 sparked a nationwide uprising. On February 22nd and 23rd, students, workers, writers, intellectuals, teachers, and the general public violated Section 144 with meetings and processions. On February 22nd, they were martyred in police firing for their mother tongue. Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Jabbar and Shafiur. At the end of the program, awards were distributed to the meritorious people and the 8th anniversary of the Language Movement Council was celebrated by cutting a cake.
