A reception was held at Jawa Bazar Degree College to honor the students who achieved a GPA-5 in the HSC examination of 2024. The event took place on Thursday, February 27, in the college hall room. The reception ceremony was presided over by the acting principal of the college, Shibbir Ahmed, and conducted by the lecturer of the Political Science department, Md. Sumon Khan. The distinguished guests who delivered speeches at the event included the donor member of the college’s ad-hoc committee, Md. Shamsul Kabir Muhit; education enthusiast member Abdul Jabbar; assistant professors Ajay Kumar Das, Jayadhar Ruby, Samar Kumar Sarker, and Mohammad Arosh Ali; as well as lecturers Dulal Mia and Gausul Haque Naim. Among the honored students, Sumon Ahmed also spoke. The speakers emphasized, “It is crucial to become a good person in life. Along with achieving excellent academic results, you must strive to be good human beings. To be a good person, you need to read good books because books lead people toward the path of enlightenment. You are travelers on the path of light. The nation and country will progress through your hands, and you will represent the future of Bangladesh. You must move forward with sky-high dreams and love for your country.” They further added, “You are all talented, but talent alone is not enough. Talent must be nurtured and practiced. Just as iron or steel rusts if left unused for too long, intellectual abilities also diminish without refinement. You are our pride. Through education, you will become good individuals, hold significant positions at home and abroad, and enlighten society. Today, you are here as guests, but this should not be the end. You must continue to move forward and maintain this achievement. Become enlightened individuals.” Among others present at the reception were assistant professors Bilkis Sultana, Neel Madhab Singh, Shyama Prasad Das, Soma Chakraborty, Mohammad Mujibur Rahman, and lecturers Neepa Rani Dutta, Mrityunjay Das, Fatema Akter, Abdul Wahid, Sharmin Sultana, Haribhakta Gop, Md. Dilshad Khan, Ajay Kumar Sarker, Pulak Chandra Biswas, Md. Shahabuddin, Mahbub Islam, Iqbal Hossain, Sarwar Jahan Mamun, Zahirul Islam Raja and physical education teacher Md. Lutfur Rahman, along with college staff and students. This event was organized with the patronage of former students of Jawa Bazar Degree College—France expatriate Mamun Mia, Dewan Ahmed, and ad-hoc committee education enthusiast member Abdul Jabbar. During the event, the distinguished guests and teachers handed over crests, cash awards, and diaries to the ten honored students. The recognized students were: Science Department: Sumon Ahmed, Kawsar Ahmed, Maruf Rahman, Ratul Dev Anto, Shawon Mahmud, Limon Mahmud, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Humanities Department: Afrin Sultana Muna, Tahera Khatun Business Studies Department: Nazmin Begum The event began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by physical education teacher Md. Lutfur Rahman. At the start of the program, in a festive atmosphere, the college’s ad-hoc committee members, teachers, and students greeted the meritorious students with flowers.
