Field day of Bari Sarisha-17 demonstration was held under the Rupantar project implemented by RDRS Bangladesh at Jaldhaka in Nilphamari. Today (February 26) morning, this event was organized by RDRS Bangladesh at Uttor Berubondo village of Shimulbari union in upazila under the initiative of Rupantar project with the aim of diversifying agriculture and increasing areas of mustard production. Upazila Agriculture Officer Suman Ahmed was the chief guest in the function presided over by Vhobesh Chandra Roy, Assistant teacher of Haroa Shimulbari Darul huda Dakhil Madrasah. RDRS Bangladesh Rupantar Project Research Associate Pallab Goswami moderated the program. Spoke as special guests, Additional Agriculture Officer Khorshed Alam, Sub Assistant Agriculture Officer Md. Hossain Ali, and Sub Assistant Agriculture officer Sultana Razia among with Daily Kalbela jaldhaka Upazila Correspondent  Harun-or- Rashid and others. About 100 nearby farmers in the area participated in this event. In the speech of chief guest, Upazila Agriculture Officer Suman Ahmed talked about improved mustard farming practices and discussed about new improved varieties. He said that mustard oil has several health benefits and short-duration aman rice must be grown if mustard is to be a part of the cropping plan. In addition, he urged the farmers to grow mustard locally and develop the practice of using only pure oil rather than importing it. The presenters gave farmers advice on how to expand the area under mustard planting and boost its areas of production and also increase the intensity of the crop with the uses of fallow land.
