The Islamic University (IU) unit of the human rights organization Socchar Students’ Network organized a fresher reception program on Saturday noon at the IU football field. At the event, new members received guidance on social responsibility and human rights protection, including the prevention of ragging, student violence, and women’s rights issues. Present at the event were Organization President Abdullah Al Rahat, Secretary Sagor Ahmed Siblu, Vice Presidents Rasel Ahmed and Mosarraf Hossain, Joint Secretaries Umma Habib Sigma and Mariam Akter Choity, Organizational Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman, along with other executive members. Sagor Ahmed Siblu, Secretary of the Socchar Students’ Network IU unit, said, “From today, you are a human rights activist. It is our responsibility to stand against injustice.” Abdullah Al Rahat, President of the Socchar IU unit, said, “Socchar has already been working at Islamic University to combat student violence. We aim to collaborate with the university administration to provide legal assistance to harassment victims and create a safer campus.”
