A 3-day agricultural technology fair has been inaugurated in Kumarkhali, Kushtia. The fair was held at the field adjacent to the Abul Hossain Torun Auditorium near Kumarkhali Upazila Parishad on Tuesday at 11:00 am under the initiative of the Upazila Agricultural Extension Department.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) SM Mekail Islam and the Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Kushtia, Agriculturist Sufi Md. Rafiquzzaman, delivered the keynote address. Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Mahmudul Hasan, Upazila Public Health Officer Md. Alamgir Hossain, Rural Development Officer Md. Moniruzzaman and others spoke as special guests. Kumarkhali Upazila Agricultural Officer Agriculturist Md. Raisul Islam, delivered the welcome address at the beginning of the discussion meeting.

Earlier, on the occasion of the 3-day long agricultural technology fair, a colorful rally started from the Upazila Parishad premises and after going around various roads, the Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Kushtia, Agriculturist Sufi Md. Rafiquzzaman, inaugurated the entrance of the agricultural technology fair by cutting the ribbon. Later, he visited the stalls of the fair with the guests.

At that time, officials of various departments of Kumarkhali Upazila, assistant and deputy assistant officers and employees of the agricultural office, farmers, journalists and well-wishers were present.

There are 8 stalls set up at the fair. These are, crop rotation stall, vegetable cultivation using scientific methods, vegetable cultivation on floating beds, ginger and vegetable cultivation in sacks, mixed and combined fruit gardens, safe crop cultivation, soil health protection and increasing crop production through improved management. The three-day fair will continue till February 6.
