Arif Hossain Chowdhury:
Students and the public have taken out a mass march on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway demanding the arrest and trial of Awami League miscreants and their accomplices for erasing graffiti of martyrs killed in police firing and Awami League-Chhatra League attacks during the student movement against discrimination.
The procession of students and the public started from the Palwell Convention Center in Abdullahpur area of Dhaka-Mymensingh highway after the Friday prayers today (January 31). They were joined by devotees who had come to offer Friday prayers at the Bishwa Ijtema.
Students and the crowd who came to the procession said that the Awami League and its allies have erased the graffiti of the martyrs one by one. They have erased the graffiti of July remembrance painted on the walls of various educational institutions and schools in Uttara, including Moynartech School, Dakshinkhan, Kawla, BNS Center, Priyanka City, Diabari Kanchkura, Abdullahpur, etc.
It is also known that on Thursday, January 23, miscreants tore down the pictures of the martyrs of the student movement against discrimination at the Mughd stage and covered the name of the Mir Mughd stage with black ink. In protest of these incidents, students lit candles in front of the Shaheed Mir Mughd stage and held a protest march on Uttara Road.
Upon receiving the news, Nahid Islam, the information advisor to the interim government, visited the Shaheed Mir Mughada stage on Friday afternoon, January 25.
Additionally, on Monday afternoon, January 27, students held a protest march at the Uttarkhan Mazar intersection, demanding exemplary punishment for the perpetrators after graffiti on the walls of Uttarkhan Moynartech School was removed on January 26.
Protesting the vandalism including the removal of graffiti by Awami miscreants and demanding the arrest of the culprits, they chanted slogans during the protest march, “Abu Said is fascinated – the war is not over, I have given blood, I will give more blood, Awami League politics must be banned. Awami League goons, don’t stay on the streets, if you go on the streets, you won’t have the skin on your back, burn down the Awami League’s headquarters. Break down the Chhatra League’s headquarters and demolish it. Abu Said is fascinated – the war is not over. Chhatra League, Jubo League, be careful. Injustice will be washed away in a flood of blood. No compromise, struggle! Struggle, struggle.”
On the other hand, Muhammad Selim Uddin called for Sheikh Hasina and her associates to be brought to justice immediately during the Jamaat protest march in Uttara.
At that time, he also said, “The people’s big demand for this government was that they would try the fascists who committed the July-August massacre. The long process of trying fascism has emboldened fascism to come up with a new program. Immediately bring Sheikh Hasina and her cronies to justice.”
Central Executive Council member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Ameer Muhammad Selim Uddin made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a protest march and road meeting held at Shaheed Mir Mugda Mancha in Uttara, Uttara, in protest of sabotage by Awami miscreants and demanding the arrest and trial of the murderers of the July-August massacre.
During a conversation with some local politicians at that time, they said, “Fascist Hasina and her cronies are doing these misdeeds to spread fear among the public.”
