The airport immigration police arrested Mostafizur Rahman Mostaq, the joint general secretary of district AL and former mayor of Joypurhat Pourashabha, at 11 am today. He was arrested from Shahjalal International Airport while fleeing to Malaysia.
Joypurhat DB Police SI and investigating officer of the case Jahangir Alam told The Daily Morning Glory that he has several cases against him, including the murder case of Nazibul Sarkar Bishal in the anti-discrimination student movement.
He had been absconding since August 5, last year. Police said that a letter had been sent to the immigration police in advance so that the accused, including Mostaq, could not flee the country. A team of Joypurhat DB police has left for Dhaka to bring him. Police said that he may be brought from Dhaka and handed over to the court tomorrow.
