Fire Service conducts firefighting drill at Secretariat Building No. 4

The Fire Service and Civil Defense Department conducted a firefighting exercise in Building No. 4 of the Bangladesh Secretariat. Building No. 4 of the Secretariat houses the Ministry of Food; Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief; Ministry of Land, Ministry of Agriculture; Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs; Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; Office of the Deputy Police Commissioner (Security) and the offices of Eden Building Pawn Sub-Divisions 1 and 2. Officers and employees of various ranks, including senior secretaries and secretaries of the concerned ministries, participated in the exercise. Today, Wednesday, January 29, at 11:00 am, artificial smoke was created in Building No. 4 of the Secretariat and a fire siren was sounded. Then, all the officials and employees used the stairs of the building in an orderly manner and lined up at the designated assembly point according to the floor. When everyone gathered, a drum was lit and the method of extinguishing the fire using a fire extinguisher was demonstrated, and a few officials and employees from each floor were given practice. After the exercise, Director (Training, Planning and Development) of Fire Service Lt. Col. Md. Rezaul Karim, PSC and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Lands Mr. ASM Saleh Ahmed delivered speeches. Senior Secretary Mr. Saleh Ahmed appreciated the activities of the Fire Service and called upon everyone to be aware. He said, “This exercise will definitely make us aware and will play a very helpful role in protecting our lives and property in case of fire. It is to be noted that firefighting exercises will be conducted in each building of the Secretariat in phases.
