After 11 long years, the biennial conference of the Khaliajuri Upazila branch of the nationalist party BNP in Netrokona district was held in a festive atmosphere. The biennial conference was inaugurated by Netrokona District BNP Convener Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Haque, chaired by Khaliajuri Upazila BNP Convener Abdur Rouf Swadhin and moderated by former Convener Masud Rana. Shariful Alam, Organizing Secretary of the Mymensingh Division of the BNP National Executive Committee, spoke as the chief guest. Deputy Organizing Secretary Shah Wares Ali Mamun spoke as the main speaker, while Deputy Organizing Secretary of Mymensingh Division Abu Wahab Akand spoke as the special guest. Netrokona District BNP Member Secretary Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Hilali spoke as the special speaker .
Former President of the District BNP and former Member of Parliament, freedom fighter Ashraf Uddin Khan, Senior Joint Convener of the District BNP, Advocate Mahfuzul Haque, Former General Secretary of the District BNP, Alhaj Abu Taher Talukder, Joint Conveners of the District BNP, Mujibur Rahman Khan, Tajezul Islam Faras Sujat, Bazlur Rahman Pathan, SM Moniruzzaman Dudu, Former Vice President of the District BNP and Former Chairman of Khaliajuri Upazila Parishad, Freedom Fighter Abdul Mannan Talukder, Former Vice President Imran Khan Chowdhury, Former Organizing Secretary SM Shafiqul Quader Shuja spoke as special guests. Among others, Khaliajuri Upazila BNP presidential candidate Abdur Rouf Swadhin, Abul Kalam Azad, general secretary candidate Idris Ali Molla, Mahbubur Rahman Kesthu, Tarikuzzaman Toru, Nazmul Haque Talukder Arif, Asifuzzaman Chowdhury Ujjal, Ershadul Alam Shahin, and others spoke. In the second phase of the conference, direct elections were held for the posts of president and general secretary in the council session. Two candidates contested the election for the post of president and six candidates for the post of general secretary. In the election, 71 members of each union committee of the 6 unions in Khaliajuri Upazila directly exercised their voting rights and elected new leadership. Out of 426 voters in the election, Abdur Rouf was elected independent president with 317 votes, while Mahbubur Rahman Kesthu was elected general secretary with 98 votes.
