A young man has died after being hit by a truck in Subarnachar, Noakhali. The deceased was identified as Md. Habib (20), son of Mohammad Abul Bashar Basu of West Charjabbar village in Charjabbar union of the upazila. The incident occurred at around 1 pm on Monday (January 27) at the head of the clear road on the Sonapur to Chairmanghat road. According to local sources, Habib was returning home from the local Atkpalia market on a motorcycle around noon. When he reached the end of the clear road on his way, he tried to overtake an ambulance and collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. As a result, Habib, who was riding a motorcycle, was crushed under the truck along with the motorcycle. Later, local people rescued him and took him to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Char Jabbar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahin Mia said that after receiving the information, the police visited the scene. The truck was seized from the scene and brought to the police station. The driver fled immediately after the incident. Legal action will be taken after receiving a written complaint.
