The 29th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) was packed with buyers and visitors during the holiday. The stalls of the fair were packed with buyers and visitors. The traders expressed their satisfaction with this. In addition, the visitors to the fair enjoyed the enchanting concert.
On Friday (January 24) evening, a large number of visitors thronged the trade fair premises at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Sector 4 of Purbachal Sub-city of Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj.
It was observed on-site that since the afternoon, there has been a crowd of visitors at the counters to collect tickets at the fair gate. Then, as soon as they entered the gate, a crowd of buyers and visitors poured in. There was no space to step on the stalls of the fair. A cultural evening, i.e. a concert, was organized on one side of the fair. In the evening, a crowd of eager visitors poured in. They danced and sang and enjoyed the cultural evening. As a result, the music arrangement added a new dimension to this year’s fair.
Abir Hossain came to visit the fair with his friends from Uttara. He said, “There has been a lot of people at the fair since the afternoon. It was a holiday. It was difficult to enter the fair due to the crowd. Still, I visited the fair with my friends. The food stalls were the most crowded. Moreover, a concert has been organized on one side of the fair. I liked it a lot. I enjoyed it a lot with my friends.”
Student Linda Akhter came to the fair with her family members. She said, many memories of the student movement have been brought to life in this fair. Many things from the student movement against discrimination in July-August, including July Chattar, Shaheed Mughdah Corner, have been brought to life in this fair. It feels very good to see all this. In addition, the children’s mini park and cultural evening at the fair were very good. In addition, the crowd was much larger today because the intensity of the winter was less.
Anis Alam, a trader at Miyako Electronics, said, “There were a lot of people during the holiday. Today, sales were also very high. Today, the crowd was also very high. There was a lot of excitement in the shops about selling products. Hopefully, if we can sell for a few days, it will be quite good.”
Nahid Hasan, a cloth merchant from Nahian Enterprise, said, “The fair did not gather as much as it did at the beginning due to various reasons, including the severity of the winter. However, today, lakhs of people have gathered. Sales have been very good.”
In this regard, Trade Fair Director Vivek Sarkar said, “Today being a holiday, a lot of people have gathered. Two lakh 25 thousand visitors have entered the fair. We have not left any shortcomings in our arrangements. As a result, our expectations will be much higher this time than in the past.”
Incidentally, there are 362 pavilions, stalls and restaurants of different categories in this year’s fair. Through e-ticketing, tickets can be purchased from home and easily entered the fair. This month-long fair is running from 10 am to 9 pm. It remains open until 10 pm on weekends. The fair has a ticket price of 50 taka for adults and 25 taka for children under 12 years of age.
