Sales at trade fair double, traders satisfied

The 29th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair is in full swing in Rupganj Purbachal town of Narayanganj. Traders said that the sales have doubled compared to the previous time. This has brought smiles to the faces of the traders. On Tuesday (January 21) afternoon, a tour of the trade fair premises at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Sector 4 of Purbachal Sub-city showed that the crowd of buyers and visitors at the fair continued to increase from the afternoon. The crowd of buyers and visitors at the stalls of the fair was noticeable. The traders expressed satisfaction with this. Hatil Furniture officer Mahfuzul Haque said, “This year’s fair has yielded a lot of profit. This time, the sales and profits have been almost double compared to the previous fair. New products of various models, including sofas and dining tables, have arrived. As expected, more than three crore taka will be sold. As a result, it is expected that the sales will be much higher than our expectations.” He further said that like every year, this year too, a 5-10 percent discount is being given on Hatil furniture. Along with this, free delivery has been arranged. As a result, the demand of buyers has increased further. Mohammad Ayaz, owner of Tariq Carpet Industries, said, “Our sales have increased a lot compared to before. 10-12 carpets are being sold every day. The number of buyers is especially high-class and middle-class families. Especially in the last 10 days, this sales family has increased. Moreover, many buyers are contacting online and buying various products.” Tama Begum is visiting the fair and buying Kashmiri shawls. She said, the prices of many products at the fair seemed reasonable. Besides, some uncommon products were available at the fair. I bought those products. I bought many things for all the family members. Anis Mia is buying dolls for his daughter. He said, “I came to the fair with my only daughter. She has pledged to buy a doll for me. Besides, I have bought various products including winter clothes for other family members.” In this regard, Vivek Sarkar, director of the trade fair, said, “This year’s fair is in full swing. The number of buyers and visitors to the fair is increasing as the days pass. I hope we can do something very good.” Incidentally, there are 362 pavilions, stalls and restaurants of different categories in this year’s fair. Through e-ticketing, tickets can be purchased from home and easily entered the fair. This month-long fair is running from 10 am to 9 pm. It remains open until 10 pm on weekends. The fair has a ticket price of 50 taka for adults and 25 taka for children under 12 years of age.
