As a historic arrangement, the traditional host of Chittagong will be there.

Your wedding is ours. Chittagong witnessed such a historic arrangement. On Saturday, such a wedding ceremony was organized by the Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation in Chittagong city. Those who got married did not have to spend any money. The entire cost was borne by the Ash Foundation.

They had to accept some conditions for this wedding. They are- no dowry of any kind can be taken. At the same time, no additional dowry can be taken. In addition, the prescribed dowry must be paid in cash. The marriage was completed on such a promise. 16 bride and groom were present at the wedding. International Islamic scholar Shaykh Abdul Hai Md. Saifullah conducted the wedding.

The arrangements included- food for 100 people from the bride and groom’s side, expenses for the bride and groom’s decoration, as well as a honeymoon package in Cox’s Bazar, household items, and an eight-course meal of various items. The entire cost of which was borne by the Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation. There is also counseling service for the bride and groom after the wedding.

Both the bride and groom said that they were very excited to participate in such an event managed by the foundation. They said that the reason is that the society’s dowry tradition, additional money in the name of dowry, and entertainment have come out of the way and easy marriages have become popular. They are very happy about this. This event was held at a convention center in the city.

A groom who came to get married said, “Thank God. They got married without making love in the park or anywhere. They can get married even while they are students. I am also a student myself. It would be good if such an event could be organized outside of Chittagong division and across the country.”

Another groom said, “I applaud the Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation for the event that they have organized to make marriage easier. This event was organized without dowry and by collecting complete dowry. I hope that the publicity of this event will spread throughout the country. May marriage become easy in the society.”

Regarding the arrangements, Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation Chairman Engineer Muhammad Nasir Uddin said, “In 2009, during my wedding, I saw that many of my relatives said that it was dowry, but they would give gifts, what is the harm in taking those gifts? I am a direct victim of it. The dowry system has reached every nook and cranny of society. This is not just a marriage, it is a movement. We want to eradicate the dowry system forever. A father is supposed to nurture his daughter after giving birth and marry her off. But at that time, there is no smile on her father’s face. Her father is coming to me and you to find money for the wedding. No father in the country will be in debt due to dowry. Stating that the registration process will start again from January 20, he said, the next wedding will be held in Rangpur division.
