Chakaria police station arrested three robbers after receiving information about a road barricade being set up for robbery in Chakaria. Sensing the presence of the police on the Chiringa-Badarkhali road, 7-8 robbers managed to escape, but the police chased them and arrested the three robbers. Police recovered one round of rifle bullets, a sword, and two knives from the detainees. The attempted robbery took place on the Chakaria-Badarkhali regional road near the house of Momtaz Member in Rampur, Saharbil Union of the upazila, early Wednesday morning. The three arrested robbers are Tayeful Islam (22), son of Gias Uddin of Binamara Moghbazar area of Chakaria Municipality Ward No. 7, Md. Jasim Uddin (34), son of Golam Kader of Ringbong Chgirshah Kata village of Ward No. 1 of Dulahazara Union, and Ismail Hossain Tipu (35), son of Md. Akram of Khamar Para, Ward No. 6 of Chakaria Municipality.
Confirming the information, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station Md. Manjur Quader Bhuiyan said, “We sent multiple police teams to the spot after receiving information from reliable sources about preparations for a robbery on the road.”
They arrested three people with bullets and sharp weapons. OC Manjur Quader Bhuiyan said preparations are underway to file a case against the detainees under the Arms Act and the preparation for robbery section.
