Police have recovered the body of an unidentified woman from Purbachal in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.

The body was recovered from the side of Gutiab Primary School in Sector 5 of Purbachal upazila on Monday (January 6) morning.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Rupganj Police Station SI Jahangir Alam said that locals found the body of an unidentified woman with her throat slit near Gutiab Primary School in the morning and informed the police. Later, the police reached the spot and recovered the woman’s body.

Narayanganj District Police Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Circle C) Mehedi Islam said that it is believed that miscreants had slit the throat of the 25-26-year-old woman with a sharp weapon at some point in the night and left her here with the intention of disappearing. The body has been recovered and sent to the Narayanganj Sadar Hospital morgue.

He also said that the identity of the deceased has not been established yet. Efforts are underway to identify her and arrest those involved in the incident.
