At this time, people from young to old can be seen taking pictures in the mustard field. According to the information from the Agriculture Office, this time, mustard has been cultivated on 2,750 hectares of land in Kumarkhali Upazila in the hope of a good harvest.

A farmer said in this regard, “We cultivate mustard in our field immediately after harvesting Aman paddy. This year, many farmers in the village have cultivated mustard.” He said that the yield is likely to be good as the weather is favorable.

Kumarkhali Upazila Agriculture Officer, Agronomist Md. Raisul Islam said that 1 kg of mustard seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer were distributed to 2,350 farmers as agricultural incentives for winter mustard cultivation in the Rabi 2024-25 season.

He expressed optimism that the mustard yield will be good this year due to favorable weather conditions and adequate supply of fertilizers, and the target mustard production will be 4200 MT.

A farmer from Maliat village said, this year we have cultivated high-yielding varieties of mustard. The mustard plants have done well. And the flowers have also come out quite well. He hopes that this year we will get 4-5 MT of mustard yield per bigha. Last year, mustard yield was good. This time too, we hope that there will be a good yield. Since mustard cultivation is profitable, farmers are increasingly leaning towards mustard cultivation.

Another farmer from the same village said that mustard is planted in the field before planting Boro rice. Due to the price of mustard, farmers in this area have planted mustard on several hundred bighas of land this year. They hope that the yield will also be good.

A local news worker from the area said that the occasional rain did not harm the mustard. It was a very beautiful sight.
