A group of land grabbers is trying to forcibly grab a journalist’s land in Purbachal of Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.

Rashedul Islam, a journalist of Daily Manabbakantha and Asian TV, filed a complaint with Rupganj Police Station on Monday evening.
It is learned that Rashedul Islam, a journalist from the Dakshinbagh area of the upazila, had purchased and occupied 39 percent of the land in the “Kearia” mouza. Recently, Subhagya Mallick, son of Ramesh Chandra Mallick from the “Kearia” area, his son Khitish Mallick and Pantush from the Kearia area and a few others tried to grab the land. Disobeying the court order, the land grabbers removed the ban signboard issued by the court on Monday afternoon. At that time, the journalist’s house was attacked, vandalized and threatened to be looted.

The complaint also mentioned that the land grabbers Subhagya, Khitish, Pantush were planning to attack with hired terrorists.
In this regard, Rupganj Police Station OC Liakat Ali said, “I have received a written complaint. Legal action will be taken subject to investigation. However, there is no opportunity to forcibly seize anyone’s property.”
