A discussion meeting with journalists was held in Lalmonirhat on the occasion of the Healthy Village in Urban Program, keeping in mind the theme of “Building a Healthy Village, Keeping the Future of Children Ahead”.
The “Healthy Village in Urban Program” is a joint initiative of Max Foundation Bangladesh and Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) and the financial support of the Government of Canada through Grand Challenges Canada (GCC) in the district council meeting held on Thursday to promote the development of rural and suburban areas of Lalmonirhat district. It has been working to improve the quality of life of the community since 2022. This four-year project (2022-2026) is being implemented in a total of six unions and one municipality in Lalmonirhat Sadar and Aditmari Upazilas. Through this project, healthcare, nutrition and safe water and sanitation will be provided to 1,57,000 families. It is working towards reducing child stunting by increasing access to sanitation, which has resulted in a reduction in child stunting from 30.90% to 27.80%.
