Protests have been held by forming a human chain and blocking roads demanding the arrest and maximum punishment of the accused in the murder case of Abu Elias Shanto, joint convener of the Munshiganj Sadar Upazila Jubo Dal.

On Tuesday, around 10 am, the protesters gathered at the Munshiganj Press Club gate and later held a protest march and blockade in the supermarket area. More than a thousand men and women, including Shanto’s relatives and local residents, participated in the program.
Shanta Islam, the wife of Jubo Dal leader Shanta, who was killed in the program, said she would boycott BNP if district BNP leaders did not come forward to arrest her husband’s killers.
The protesters alleged that Sadar Upazila Jubo Dal joint convener Ilias was killed in a planned manner in Chitlia Bazar a month and a half ago due to jealousy over his financial and political position. Although a murder case has been filed in this incident, the police have not taken any action to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile, the road blockade disrupted traffic on the main road of the district town for about an hour, creating traffic jams.
They demanded the arrest of the 8 accused within 24 hours and immediate trial. Otherwise, the protesters warned of surrounding the police station.
Incidentally, on November 1, Jubo Dal leader Shanto left for Dhaka on a speedboat with the accused in the case. At night, the accused informed the people at home that Shanto was injured and admitted to the hospital. Shanto was admitted to a hospital in Dhaka with serious injuries and died at night. In this incident, the younger brother of the deceased, Mamun Sarkar, filed a murder case against 14 people including the complainant. The deceased Shanto is the son of the deceased Borhan Sarkar of the Charmashura area of ​​​​Munshiganj Sadar Upazila.
