Border Guard Bangladesh has declared zero tolerance for drug trafficking and smuggling.

In view of this, by increasing strict surveillance and patrolling activities at the border, Lalmonirhat Battalion (15 BGB) was able to arrest five accused along with 298 bottles of Indian Phensidyl worth 1 lakh 75 thousand taka and 18.6 kg of marijuana(Ganja) from the borders of Burirhat, Gangarhat and Anantapur BOP in 07 days from 10 December 2024 to 17 December 2024.

Besides, Indian sarees, three-piece and pant fabrics worth Tk 27 lakh 12 thousand were seized from the Ramkhana and Baghbandar BOP borders, Indian cosmetics worth Tk 2 lakh 45 thousand (Pond’s Cream, Johnson’s Baby Lotion, Medisalik Balm and Gillette Blade) from the Ramkhana BOP border, and Indian cumin seeds worth Tk 69 thousand were seized from the Anantapur and Ramkhana BOP borders. It is learnt that the process of depositing the seized drugs with the Narcotics Control Department and other goods with the customs is under process.

Just as various smuggled goods including narcotics are smuggled into Bangladesh through the border, there is a tendency of smuggling paddy seeds and diesel from Bangladesh to India. In this context, Lalmonirhat Battalion (15 BGB) has been able to seize Bangladeshi paddy seeds worth 2 lakh 16 thousand taka while smuggling them into India from the borders of Daikhawa, Jhaurani and Dighlatari BOP and 65 liters of diesel worth 7 thousand taka while smuggling them into India from the border area of Mogolhat BOP. At this time, Lalmonirhat Battalion (15 BGB) arrested 06 smugglers for their direct participation in smuggling of various goods and narcotics and handed them over to the police.
