It is known that from 1986 and 1988 to 2001, there was an independent parliamentary constituency named Comilla-11 (258) Nangalkot with Nangalkot Upazila. But in 2008, the army-backed caretaker government connected Nangalkot with 6 unions of Sadar Dakshin Upazila. Later, by connecting Nangalkot with Sadar Dakshin Sara Upazila and the neighboring Lalmai Upazila, it declared the largest Comilla-10 parliamentary constituency in the country, about 90 kilometers long. Due to this, being a huge parliamentary constituency, the people of Nangalkot are deprived of various development activities including administrative infrastructure.
