It has been alleged that the ‘Family Planning Assistant’ of the Lohajang Upazila Family Planning Office of the Family Planning Department, Chhayedush Siam (Ritu), was directly and actively involved in the politics of the recently ousted Awami League, violating the Government Service (Conduct) Rules of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. It is learned that this government employee was the former president of the former Arial Baligaon Union Chhatra League of Tongibari Upazila. Although he is a former employee, information has also emerged that he was an active worker of the AL after joining the government job and regularly participated in various programs of the party. According to multiple sources, during the fascist AL government, due to his position and father being a heroic freedom fighter, he got a job as a deletor (recommendation) of the then Munshiganj 2 constituency MP Sagufta Yasmin Emily. Even after joining the government service as a ‘Family Planning Assistant’ at the Sirajdikhan Upazila Family Planning Office of the district on June 21, 2016, he raised slogans at various AL meetings, which can be seen by reviewing various video footage and photos. A review of the Facebook profile of this government employee shows that on August 4-5, the order to kill students of the anti-discrimination student movement in Munshiganj and the accused in the murder case in Munshiganj, and the photo of this government employee shows that they have a lot of friendship. According to the information, in 2023, his wife Sumi Begum filed a CR case- 416/23, Section 302/34 of the Penal Code in the Munshiganj Court of the learned Senior Judicial Magistrate No. 4, alleging that the General Secretary of Baligaon Union Awami League, Azgar Hossain Chanchal Bepari, was killed. When the case was dismissed, a case was later filed in the Munshiganj Judge’s Court. Later, in the context of this case, the court ordered the Tongibari Police Station to take the case as an FIR. And the main accused in this murder case is said to be a government employee, Sayedus Siam (Ret. 2), according to the case documents. On the other hand, on December 30, 2023, the news was also published online in the Daily Prothom Alo newspaper under the headline “Government employee said, ‘I didn’t stay long’ after boat campaign in Munshiganj” for violating the code of conduct mentioned in Section 14 of the 2008 National Parliament Election Code of Conduct of the Election Commission. At that time, he was working as a family planning assistant at the Family Planning Office in Sirajdikhan Upazila. Colleagues from his previous workplace said that he was transferred a few days ago and is working at the Louhajang Upazila Family Planning Office. This government employee has a pharmacy called Brothers Medicourse at Baligaon High School Gate in Tongibari. It is also known that several pharmacy owners were involved in an arbitration case in the Union Parishad for selling expired medicines from there a few days ago. After the fascist AL government fled on August 5 amid intense public anger over the anti-discrimination student movement, information has emerged from various quarters that he ran away at night despite working during the day due to fear of being attacked in various cases. In this regard, this government employee, Sayedus Siam (Ritu), said, “I have not held any political post or title for the last seven or eight years.” In response to the question of whether he is involved in active politics of the Awami League, he said, “I have not been involved in any power politics since I started working in the government service.” In this regard, Chayan Bala, an officer of the Louhajang Upazila Family Planning Department, said, “I have joined here as a new member. I do not know yet whether he is actively involved in politics, but a government employee can never be involved in active politics. However, if he is hanging around with active politicians, legal action will be taken against him.”
