The body of a Shibir worker named Matiur Rahman Sajeeb (17) has been exhumed from his grave after 11 years in Companiganj, Noakhali. The body was exhumed from the family graveyard of Nayan Haji Bari in Ward No. 6 of Basurhat Municipality of the upazila in the presence of a magistrate on Tuesday (December 10) afternoon. Later, the body was sent to the morgue of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy. Sajeeb is the son of the deceased Abdul Rahman of the same area. He was a Dakhil examinee from a local madrasa and was involved in Shibir politics. It is learned that Sajeeb’s body was exhumed from the family graveyard around noon today after a court order in the wake of the case. A bullet was found in the grave at that time. At that time, Companiganj Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Habel Uddin and the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector (SI) Moinul Hossain were present. Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gazi Muhammad Foujul Azim said that the body was exhumed from the grave on the orders of the court. At that time, an object resembling a bullet was recovered from the grave. After the examination, it can be said whether it is a bullet or not. It is worth noting that on December 14, 2013, the Upazila Jamaat alleged that four Shibir leaders and workers, including Sajeeb, were shot dead in a clash between Jamaat and Awami League in front of the Companiganj Upazila Parishad. Later, a case was filed in the court against 112 people, including former mayor of Basurhat Municipality Abdul Quader Mirza, General Secretary of Companiganj Upazila Awami League Mizanur Rahman Badal, former Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Nuruzzaman, in connection with the killing of four Jamaat leaders and workers in Companiganj, Noakhali. Later, on the orders of the court, a murder case was registered at the Companiganj Police Station. In addition, former Inspector (Investigation) of the Companiganj Police Station Md. Shafiqul Islam, former Sub-Inspector Sudhir Ranjan Barua, Abul Kalam Azad, Shishir Kumar Biswas and Ukyasing Marma were named as accused in the case.
