Bayezid Bostami Police Station has arrested Nur Alam Sumon (38), the main accused in the much-discussed Babul murder case in Chittagong.

On the early morning of December 9, Bayezid Bostami Police Station arrested Sumon, the main accused in this sensational murder case, from the Uttar Ganjpara area of ​​Khagrachhari Municipality under Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station.

To avoid arrest, Sumon took refuge in disguise at the house of a distant relative located in the remote hills of Khagrachhari.

Sumon is a resident of Oxygen Syedpara under Bayezid Bostami Police Station.

Police sources said that on 12 September this year At approximately 10 am, accused Sumon came in front of victim Babul’s shop and forcibly snatched 3 mobile phones from the shop employees. When victim Babul asked accused Sumon to give them the mobile phones, he abused him in foul language and threatened to kill the victim and left.

At approximately 1 pm on that day, accused Sumon found victim Md. Babul (52) alone on the road in front of Tayyab’s scrap shop in Jaldar Pul area next to Aulia Degree College in Ashekane under Bayezid Bostami Police Station and stabbed him in the middle of the stomach with a sharp knife in his hand with the intention of killing him, causing serious bloody cuts and wounds.

When the people around came forward due to the victim’s screams, the victim’s daughter Ankhi Akhter, upon receiving the news, quickly arrived at the scene and rescued the victim with the help of the people present and took him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment. The doctor on duty admitted the victim to the hospital. Victim Md. Babul died while undergoing treatment on 17 September at 6am.

The police operation continued after Md. Jisan son of the deceased Babul, filed a case with Bayezid Bostami Police Station on that day.

There are several cases against the arrested Sumon at Bayezid Bostami Police Station for various crimes including robbery. The operation is continuing to arrest the other accused involved in the incident.
