Allegation sexual harassment against principal of Louhjang Madrasa

A madrasa principal in Munshiganj’s Louhajang Upazila has been accused of sexual harassment by female students. The allegations are that principal Idris Ali Sikder made indecent gestures, behaved badly and sexually harassed female students. The victimized female students of the madrasa have filed a written complaint with the Upazila Executive Officer, demanding the resignation of Poysa Karamatia Alim Madrasa Principal Md. Idris Ali Sikder and Romana Madam. According to the complaint source, Poysa Karamatia Alim Madrasa is a traditional institution. Md. Idris Ali Sikder was appointed as the principal last May. What is happening to us?

The madrasa students mentioned 12 issues against the principal, including indecent gestures, bad behavior and sexual harassment, in a complaint letter signed by 17 first-year students of the madrasa.

The students boycotted classes and exams on Thursday demanding the resignation of the principal of the Poysa Karamatia Alim Madrasa. They observed this program on the charges of the principal’s indecent speech, gestures and sexual harassment with the students. 17 victims and ordinary students have written a letter to the Upazila Executive Officer demanding the principal’s resignation. In view of that, the accused principal submitted his resignation letter to the Executive Officer yesterday.

The students said, “We are afraid of our reputation being tarnished. We are not safe from such characterless people. We think their crime deserves resignation.” At this time, the complainants want the resignation of principal Idris Ali Sikder and teacher Romana. Students and guardians of the madrasa are furious over this incident. Managing Committee member Anwar Khan said, Madrasa students have complained to us that the principal misbehaves with them and touches them in different places, so we are asking them to file a written complaint. I have heard that the students have filed a complaint with the UNO. Member Md. Roni said that we are hearing complaints from some students that the principal is harassing the students and talking bad about them. In this regard, the accused madrasa principal Md. Idris Ali Sikder’s mobile phone was not connected after repeated attempts. In this regard, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Zakir Hossain said, I received the resignation letter yesterday. The principal’s resignation will be effective soon. And necessary action will be taken after investigation.
