Noakhali Correspondent
He went to the July student-public movement silently without inform his mother. Rizvi’s skull was blown off there, his body jumping like a chopped chicken.
In the context of the student-public movement in the July uprising, Rizvi was the name of an indomitable courage. His full name was Mahmudul Hasan. This young hero martyr is known to everyone as Rizvi. He died after being shot in the head around 6 pm on July 18. The mother told the story of losing her son while crying. When she went to her rented house in Maijdi town of Noakhali, she spoke to her grieving mother and brother. The mother told how Rizvi became so brave in the student-public movement. Rizvi is the son of Jamal Uddin of the house of Maulvi Tofazzal Hossain of Charking Union in Hatia Upazila of Noakhali.
Rizvi was a philanthropist since childhood. His mother Farida Yasmin was a housewife, and his father Jamal Uddin was a manager of the NGO Asha Bank. Rizvi was the eldest of two brothers and one sister. Rizvi was very much loved by the family. All the dreams of the family revolved around him. His parents lived by relying on him. Despite the family’s poverty and hardship, his parents were eager for his studies. The 20-year-old Rizvi had completed his eighth semester in Electrical Trade at Lakshmipur Polytechnic Institute. After that, he was sent to Dhaka to study. He wanted him to finish his studies and take care of the family. Meanwhile, the student-public movement started in Dhaka.
Rizvi’s mother Farida Yasmin said that on Thursday, July 18, at around 6:30 pm, Rizvi’s skull was blown off after being shot in the Highway Road area in front of the Uttara Purba Police Station in Dhaka. His brain came out and fell on the road. Then Rizvi fell on the road and started squirming like a fish. He was shot from a flyover. Then he was taken to Dhaka’s Uttara Kitchen Hospital. He died there around 10 pm while undergoing treatment. When the student-public movement started in Dhaka during the July Uprising, Rizvi’s mother would call him and tell him to be careful. Rizvi assured me over the phone that he would not join any movement. But after my son was shot, I came to know that my son used to go agitating without us knowing. Farida Yasmin further said that after he was shot, his friends took Rizvi to Uttara Kitchen Hospital. He did not receive any immediate treatment at that hospital. Even my mother could not cry when she saw her son’s body in the hospital. On the orders of the then law enforcement agencies, his body was brought to Noakhali in secret. Considering the gravity of the situation, his body could not be taken to Hatiyar’s own house. The weapon was buried in a quiet manner in the graveyard of Nana’s house in East Mohammadpur village of Hatiar Harani Union.
Shaheed Rizvi’s younger brother Shahriar Hasan Rimon said, “If necessary, I will also join the movement for the sake of the country.” Still, our family hopes that the July student-people’s revolution will be beneficial.
