“Flag for the people, not the people for the flag”: Dr. Salimullah Khan

You shed so much blood to free yourself from the colonial rule of Pakistan to become a colony of India? India helped us in 1971, and on this pretext, it wants to keep Bangladesh as its colony.

Professor Salimullah Khan said these things at a discussion titled ‘Abul Mansur Ahmed’s National Thought: The Context of Mass Uprising’ at Chittagong University on Monday.

“Advisor of University National Thought”– R-Razi, a teacher in the Department of Communication and Journalism, presided over the program. Tanveen Kayes, a member of the organization, moderated the program and presided over it.

(National Thought of Chittagong University) organized this meeting. The meeting was held on December 2 from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

During the question and answer session of the meeting, a student asked, how can relations with India be established on the basis of public interest and justice? In response, Professor Salimullah Khan said these things.

He said, one of Sheikh Hasina’s crimes is that she has destroyed the heart of Bangladesh. Looting in the power sector, money laundering, lawlessness in the country, disappearances, murder, and oppression. Apart from this, she has made Bangladesh a slave to India in terms of foreign relations. The first thing you have done to get rid of that is to overthrow Sheikh Hasina. The second is to show unity among the people. Political honesty is needed to resist the incitement that others are now giving to create chaos. Awareness is needed and political power is needed.

A student in the meeting wanted to know his opinion on drawing footprints on the national flags of India, America, and Israel. In response, Salimullah Khan said, rebellion against injustice is justified, Mao Zedong said. One form of rebellion is symbolic. In America, the Supreme Court has declared that burning the flag is not a crime. People have set fire to the flag in America as an expression of protest. That is, the flag is for the people, not the people for the flag.
