Coast Guard operation in Monpura seizes huge amount of jatka and current nets

The Coast Guard has recovered a huge amount of jatka hilsa and illegal current nets in a drive in Monpura, Bhola.
This special drive was carried out under the leadership of Monpura Coast Guard Contingent Commander M. Shah Alam.
On Monday (December 02), an operation was conducted in the Meghna River from 8 am and illegal current nets were seized. Later, at 2 pm, a search was conducted from the Dhakagami launch and the jatka hilsa was seized. Later in the afternoon, the seized current nets were burned and destroyed in coordination with the Upazila Fisheries Officer. And the jatka hilsa was distributed among local mosques, orphanages and poor people. Present during the fish distribution were Prakash Chandra Das, Marine Fisheries Officer of the Upazila Fisheries Office, public representatives, media personnel and local dignitaries. Coast Guard’s Monpura Contingent Commander M. Shah Alam said, as part of a special operation, we conducted a special operation in the Meghna River’s Baulbari Ghat, Nayeb Ghat, Kawartek Ghat, Ramnewaz Ghat, Tulatuli Char, Badnar Char, Dhal Char, Kalatli Char and adjacent areas. During this, 650,000 meters of prohibited current nets were seized. And 280 kg of jatka was seized after searching 3 hilsa baskets in the Dhakagami launch.
