Pregnant woman killed for pressuring  get married

Shahida Islam Rafa was brought to Dhaka-Mawa highway in Munshiganj and shot dead in a planned manner. She was two and a half months pregnant. When she was pressured to get married, her boyfriend Touhid Sheikh Tanmoy could not accept the matter normally.
Munshiganj Police Superintendent Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar gave this information at a press conference in the meeting room of the Munshiganj Police Superintendent’s office on Tuesday afternoon.
The Police Superintendent also said that after killing her lover, he tried to escape to Bhola’s Monpura Island. The Munshiganj District Detective Branch (DB) arrested the accused boyfriend Touhid Sheikh Tanmoy from a passenger launch in Bhola’s Ilisha early Monday morning. He said that the location of the accused was identified by making maximum use of information technology.
Citing preliminary interrogation, the Superintendent of Police said that the pistol used in the murder was looted from Wari Police Station in the capital on August 5. According to the information given by the accused, the pistol was recovered from the water under the Battali Bailey Bridge in South Keraniganj, Dhaka on Monday.
Earlier on Saturday night, the mother of the deceased Shahida Islam Rafa, Zarina Begum, filed a murder case with the Srinagar Police Station, naming her boyfriend Touhid Sheikh Tanmoy as the main accused.
The deceased Shahida lived with her family in Wari, Dhaka. She is the daughter of the deceased Md. Motaleb of Begunbari village in Mymensingh Sadar Upazila. They are two brothers and three sisters.

It is worth noting that the police recovered the body of the young woman with bullet injuries from the Dogachi area of Srinagar, Munshiganj, next to the Dhaka-Mawa highway on Saturday morning.
