CMP’s day-long programme for Uprooted Children
CMP organizes day-long seminar on “Prevention and Remediation of Uprooted Children & Adolescents Crime”.
CMP Commissioner called upon journalists, police & social workers to work on how to integrate uprooted children and adolescents into the mainstream of society instead of considering them as potential criminals.
Four December A day-long seminar on “Prevention and Remediation of Uprooted Children and Adolescents Crime” was organized by Chittagong Metropolitan Police at the Metropolitan Shooting Club located at Chittagong Metropolitan Police Lines in Dampara, Chittagong city.
The speakers present gave their valuable opinions on the rehabilitation of uprooted adolescents and combating juvenile crime, which will be helpful in preventing crimes committed by uprooted children and adolescents.
It was presided over by Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz. In the day-long seminar that started at 11:00 AM, CMP Commissioner called upon the participating departments of Social Services, NGOs, social organizations, print and electronic media and police officers to work on how to integrate uprooted children and adolescents into the mainstream of society instead of considering them as potential criminals.
UNICEF Chittagong Divisional Head Madhuri Banerjee urged the guardians to refrain from such activities that separate children and adolescents from their families and society. Otherwise, she said, uprooted children and adolescents will get involved in various crimes.
Nazibul Islam, Divisional Director, Social Services Department, Chittagong; representatives of various NGOs, journalists, representatives of social organizations and civil society and senior officials of CMP along with all police stations OC were also present at the event.
