Journalists working in Rupganj held a human chain program at 11 am on Tuesday (December 3) to protest the attack on journalists Jahangir Mahmud and Shafiqul Islam in Rupganj, Narayanganj.
More than a hundred journalists participated in the program in the Bhulta area of Rupganj on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
Journalists at the human chain and protest meeting said that recently a group of terrorists attacked Daily Kalbela’s Jahangir Mahmud and Nayadiganta’s Shafiqul Islam separately. The attackers played politics with Chhatra Dal leader Masud and BNP executive committee member Kazi Moniruzzaman. Although a case has been filed against the attackers at Rupganj Police Station, for mysterious reasons, law enforcement officials are not arresting them. If the attackers are not arrested within the next 48 hours, the journalists will launch a stricter program. Journalists Abdul Alim, Alam Hossain, Momen Mia, Sattar Ali, Russell Mahmud, Al Amin, Raju Ahmed, Sultan Mohiuddin, Shaon Gazi, Farhad Mia, Rafiqul Islam, Khalil and others were present during the human chain.
