The police have identified a total of 13 people in the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in the Chittagong court area. 8 people of them were directly involved in the murder. 8 people of them have already been arrested.

The city detective police (DB) arrested a person named Rajib Bhattacharya on Wednesday (November 27) night. His presence was captured in a video footage obtained by the police during the murder. He is the son of Sunil Bhattacharya of Abdullahpur, Uttar Sarta, Fatikchhari.

The others arrested are Rumit Das, Sumit Das, Nayan Das, Gagan Das, Vishal Das, Aman Das and Sonu Methor.

The others identified are; Bikash Das (1), Arjun Das, Bikash Das (2), Shuvo Kanti Das (student of BGC Trust University), Krishna Das (employee of Government Haji Muhammad Mohsin College) and Bunja Methor.

The arrested accused in the case registered in the attack on the police in the court premises are – Joy Nath (19), Rumit Das (32), Nayan Das (28), Sumit Das (20), Vishal Das (26), Suman Das (22), Saju Vaidya (39) and Ajay Sutradhar Chowdhury (28).

Various police investigation agencies have identified Bikash Das (1) and Bunja Methor as the main masterminds of the murder.

The footage shows a young man wearing a silver helmet, orange T-shirt and black pants with a ramda in his hand and another young man wearing a red helmet, blue T-shirt and jeans with a baton in his hand beating lawyer Alif. Police say the first person is Bikash Das; the second person is Bunja Methor. The operation to arrest them is ongoing.

Police said that the BGC Trust University authorities have expelled Shuvo Kanti Das in this incident.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Deputy Commissioner Raish Uddin said that 8 people involved in the murder have been arrested after seeing the CCTV footage of the murder. Work is underway to identify and arrest the others involved.

Meanwhile, questions have been raised about how so many followers of Chinmoy Das gathered in the reserved area of ​​the court. Amid discussions and criticism, Liaquat Ali, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the South Division of the city police, has been transferred to the POM branch.
