Nurul Islam has alleged that an attempt has been made to seize Manola Hill, a property worth hundreds of crores of taka located next to the city’s GEC intersection.

He said that terrorists and land grabbers Syed Ziyad Rahman and his brother Parvez Uddin are desperate to seize the place along with Awami League leader Nurul Azim. He has been demanded extortion and death threats several times to give up ownership of the land. Despite taking legal action in these incidents, the terrorists are showing their muscle power.

Nurul Islam, the owner of Manola Hill, who is the victim, raised these allegations at a press conference yesterday, Sunday and demanded punishment for the terrorists. The press conference was organized at a restaurant at Jamalkhan intersection in the city.

In a written statement, Nurul Islam said, I am the managing director of ‘Standard Rose Villa Housing Limited’. My organization purchased Manola Hill for 300 million taka in 2011. Since then, we have been collecting taxes and fees for the place. We have also been collecting rent for the shop there. In the past few years, terrorists and land grabbers Syed Ziyad Rahman and his brother Parvez Uddin, along with Awami terrorist Nurul Azim, have tried to forcibly occupy the place several times.

At various times, these armed terrorists demanded extortion from me. If I did not want to pay the extortion, they also threatened to kill me. In these incidents, I filed a case against the terrorists at Chawkbazar Police Station in 2022. At that time, when I informed the Home Ministry about the matter, the ministry appointed 24 armed Ansar forces in Manola Hill on our application.

Stating that the terrorists became more active after the government changed its tune, Nurul Islam said, after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, 60 to 70 armed terrorists attacked Manola Hill, owned by my organization, on August 5. They caused damage of about 2 million taka including looting, robbery and vandalism. The video footage of which is preserved. In this incident, complaints were filed with various government departments including the Army Commander, the Ministry of Home Affairs. Even our tenant shopkeepers filed a GD against the terrorists with the army and the police station. Even then, the terrorists Ziad Rahman, Parvez Uddin and Nurul Azim are trying to occupy Manola Hill. They are constantly demanding extortion from my business shopkeeper. They are forcibly closing the water line.

He said, we are the owners of Manola Hill. We have all the legal documents. On the contrary, the terrorists are spreading false propaganda on a private TV channel. There, the social welfare affairs secretary of the local Chawkbazar police station ward Jamaat, Md. Ilias, has been informed as an occupant. Which is completely false, fabricated and purposeful. Ilias is our business partner. We have been doing business for a long time. There is no involvement of any political party in this. Only the terrorists are creating a crisis by mentioning the name of a political group to occupy Manola Hill. We want freedom from such harassment by the terrorists. I will request the administration to explain the real owners of Manola Hill and take action against the terrorists.

Jamaat leader Md. Ilias, who was present at the press conference, said, the occupying forces have spread false and baseless propaganda against me. I have no objection to saying whatever they want against me. But they have tried to corrupt a sacred organization. Jamaat has no minimum involvement here. I have been accused of threats. But I have not even gone to Manola Hill. If anyone can show me a video footage, then I will take whatever punishment they give me. I am the business partner of Nurul Islam, the owner of Manola Hill. We do business together. The occupying terrorists are capitalizing on this and spreading false propaganda against me and Jamaat. I condemn and protest against it.
