Selling expired yogurt with new sticker fine by Consumer Rights
A confectionary manufacturing and marketing company named ‘Ghowsia Sweets’ is selling expired products by putting a new sticker on the old sticker on the expired cake, curd in Chattogram city.
On Monday (November 4), the National Directorate of Consumer Rights has imposed a fine of Tk 60,000 on the company’s showroom in Halishahar Failatali Bazar area.
The operation was led by the department’s deputy director Mohammad Faiz Ullah. Assistant director Nasreen Akhtar and Md. Anishur Rahman participated in the campaign.
Apart from Ghowsia Sweets, Farooq Poultry and Sales Center was fined Tk 3,000, Abul Hossain’s Meat Shop Tk 2,000 and Taifa Poultry and Sales Center Tk 2,000 for not displaying the price list in the raid.
Azad Poultry House has been fined 6,000 Tk for weight manipulation. Besides, Ghowsia Premium Sweets and Bakery was fined 5 thousand TK for violating product packaging rules and not having purchase vouchers.
