People trapped in flood in Netrakona, public life disrupted

Due to heavy rainfall in Netrakona and heavy downpours from upstream, nearly lakhs of people are suffering due to waterlogging. This flood was seen in Sadar Upazila, Durgapur, Kalmakanda, Purbadhala, Barhatra. There is a shortage of clean water along with human food, cow feed. Rural roads are submerged. Among them, one died in Durgapur after drowning.
District Agriculture Extension Directorate Deputy Director Md. Nuruzzaman said that 17 thousand 535 hectares of land and 167 hectares of vegetables have sunk in the district.
District Commissioner Banani Biswas said, at this moment, 5 upazilas of the district are affected by floods. Banvasi people have taken shelter in 10 shelters. 85,000 people in the district are under water shortage. By this time, 70 metric tons of GR rice has been allocated. 2000 dry food packets and 3.5 lakh taka in cash have been given to the upazilas.
