Expired medicines found at CTG Chevron Hospital

Consumer Rights Chittagong has fined two institutions 2 lakh 4 thousand taka for keeping expired medicines in two pharmacies of Chevron Clinical Laboratory & hospital in Panchlaish, Chittagong.

Today Tuesday (October 1) in two pharmacies located on the 2nd and 6th floors of Chevron in the promoter area of ​​the city, such irregularities were caught during the inspection by the Chittagong divisional and Chittagong district offices of the National Consumer Protection Directorate.

The campaign was led by Deputy Director of Consumer Rights Division, Mohammad Faiz Ullah. Nasreen Akhtar, Rana Dev Nath were with him.

According to Consumer Rights, M/s Chevron Pharmacy on the 2nd floor was storing a significant number of expired medicines for sale in addition to selling overpriced medicines and they were storing the medicines in the same packet as the expired medicines. In view of this, a fine of 1 lakh taka was imposed. In view of 1 written complaint of overcharging in the same pharmacy, a fine of Tk 4,000 is imposed on the settlement of the complaint, of which 25% i.e. Tk 1,000 will be given to the complainant as an incentive.

A considerable number of expired medicines can be seen in the pharmacy on the 6th floor of the hospital. These include cough, antibiotic and diabetic medicines.

They are storing the expired medicines in the same packet as the expired medicines. As a result, a fine of Rs. Faiz Ullah, Deputy Director of Consumer Rights, said that by imposing and collecting a total of 2 lakh 4 thousand taka fine in 2 pharmacies, it is warned that such crimes should not be organized in the future.

The monitoring activities of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate will continue in the public interest.
