3 km highway of airport declared horn-free

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that people will first be made aware to change the long-standing habit of playing the horn. Then the law will be strictly enforced. First, initiatives will be taken to stop noise pollution in important areas, then the entire Dhaka city and gradually in the divisional cities as well. She said, starting the work is success.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan said these things in an event at the head office of Civil Aviation Authority in Kurmitola, Dhaka on Tuesday. Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and its surrounding 3 km area has been declared a ‘silent zone’ and a program to stop honking in vehicles has been inaugurated from October 1.
The environmental advisor also said, “I don’t have a horn in my car. If you break the law for the first time, you will be fined 500 taka. Penalties will be enforced from December after analyzing the mistakes in October and November.
A colorful rally was held under the leadership of the Environment Advisor. The advisor answered various questions of the journalists in the discussion meeting held later.
