Rupganj Upazila Awami League president, former textile and jute minister, Gazi group chairman, titled freedom fighter Golam Dastgir Gazi Birpratik has been arrested by the police.
Law enforcement forces arrested him from his relative’s house in Shantinagar of the capital on Saturday (August 24) night.
Paltan Police Station OC Mollah Md Khalid Hossain confirmed the arrest. He said he was hiding at a relative’s house to avoid arrest. A team of DB Police arrested him from there.
Earlier, a murder case was registered against 105 people including Sheikh Hasina and Golam Dastgir Gazi at Rupganj police station in Narayanganj.
Last Wednesday (August 21), aunt Reena filed a case in connection with the murder of Roman Mia (17), a class 10 student of Naba Kishloy High School, who was shot by terrorists during the student uprising. The names of 45 people including Golam Dastgir and his son Golam Mortuza Pappa were mentioned in this case. Another 60 unidentified people were accused.
