Dissatisfaction of workers at Awami League leader’s ‘Incontrade Limited’ container depot in CTG

Disgruntled workers at the private container depot ‘Incontrade Limited’ run by Awami League leader in Chittagong went on strike. Worker-owner discontent begins with pay disparity. This discontent continued for the past 15 years. By doing this, the workers suffer.

Since Sunday (25 August) morning, the employees of Incontrade Limited have stopped work and held a protest program to collect various demands.

Incontrade Limited Company is located in Char area of ​​Laldia in East Patenga of Chittagong. Its chairman Yusuf Abdullah Haroon was a former member of parliament of the Awami League government of Comilla-3 seat.

The protesting workers said, ‘Incontrade Limited Container Depot Executive Director. Saiful Islam’s resignation, elimination of salary discrimination, etc., were held in this protest program.

The protesting workers of the company. Imtiaz, Monir, Rakhibra said, “Incontrade Limited Container Depot Chairman Yusuf Abdullah Haroon. As he was the adviser of Awami League, he managed the dictatorial case here. Salaries and allowances are not paid properly. Nepotism is done here. There is disparity in pay structure. There is no regulation of government pay structure and working hours. 12 hours a day instead of 8 hours.’

They also said, ‘We are demanding justice and fair wages. If our demands are not met, we will go to a bigger movement.’

On Sunday 25th August, a large number of workers were seen chanting slogans at the Inland Container Depot and Container Freight Station ‘Incontrade Limited’ at noon. At this time, some workers can be seen holding placards and chanting slogans.

However, even though I went to the office of the company to know about this, the officials including the managing director refused to talk about it.
